We knew that we already had some pretty good existing imagery. We'd worked with photographers before, videographers before, but we never really had someone paint the full picture. We had pieces of the puzzle, but I never had the full picture of what it was that I was actually building. So when I went to look to build out the rebrand, I was looking essentially for someone who had the entire vision.
Originally I had actually hired someone separately for photography and separately for videography. And it wasn't until I chatted with Jessica that she actually gave me the insight as to how this truly all comes together. Up until I had talked to her, I was used to working on the pieces of the puzzle and never really considered that larger vision. It was only once I had a conversation with Jess that it opened my eyes and I was like "Wow, I'm looking at the entirely wrong way."
I truly believe that you invest based off the problem that's being solved with the value that you feel is demonstrated for that investment. And I think the reason I wasn't comfortable investing before is because I never actually had someone demonstrate the value. It wasn't until I got in the DMs with Jessica and she started asking me questions that nobody had ever asked me. She started thinking and inquiring about things and I was like, "why have I not thought of that?" or "Why don't I have a plan for that? Should I know these things?" I realized she was thinking about things I wasn't even thinking about.
After having conversation in the DMs, I was just, I need to do this. And I will be honest, my budget was probably like a fifth of what we ended up actually investing. But every single penny was worth it. And I can tell you, if you take that leap, you are not going to be disappointed.
So if you are someone who is on the edge thinking about whether you need this or not? Honestly, you probably needed a year ago. And I really do think that even just investing in this process, if it helped me to sign just one client, was entirely worth it. Because your brand outside of all of your sales and marketing is the thing that you're known for and the question is, do you feel like what you're known for right now is actually what you stand for.

I had more means, and more meaning. I learned what safety felt like for the first time in my entire life. I'm a brand photographer based in Canada. I quit my 9-5 corporate job 2 years ago, but I feel like it's more "me" to share that I worked in the hospitality industry for 15 years, from a bus girl, bartender, waitress, and often worked at least 5 jobs at a time.
